HP 5100c Scanner & Windows XP Pro
Computer powers off in sleep mode HP should look at better support No one at the store where I worked told me either!!
This was helpful 0. I did not use and of HP’s software. I’ve been looking for a solution to this problem for several years Try again from safe mode.
Only thing that helped 5100 to use a C driver as it’s backwards compatible, and it was – It went through with the installation, so I looked in device manager, and it had a question mark by the scanner entry, and I tried to “update” it and it seemed to go through fine, did it’s file copying, etc.
Its convoluted, but that is the way I had to deal with it. Unplug the scanner from v power by px out the cord on the back of the scanner. I wish HP would get this particular scanner to work with a patch, but sadly it does not I have the exact same scanner, and ran into the same issues.
Kind regards Jim T. Results 1 to 8 of 8 Thread: I had to take an older machine, flatten it, then install Windows 98 SE first, and install the scanner into the fresh Windows 98 SE. Of course the versions that were bundled were at the end of service life at the time.

I let Windows Xp install. Regards to you JimT. Thanks for your suggestion.

The problem is that the instructions on the website are for sp versions only, in my case it would not work at all with XP Pro. Hi OtheHill Thanks for the reply.
